SharePoint 2010 is compatible with Windows 8. The installation steps are very much similar to that of installing SP 2010 on Windows 7.
Following are the steps:-
Step1 : Install SharePoint Server 2010
1) Make changes to the SP 2010 setup.exe file and install SP 2010 just as in the case of Windows 7.(SP 2010 installation on Windows 7).
Step2 : Update IIS and Microsoft .NET Framework Version
1) Go to IIS Manager (inetmgr.exe) and select “Change .NET Framework Version”.
2) Set the .NET Framework Version to v2.0.50727.
Point to remember
1) Framework Compatibility: After installing SP 2010 on Windows 8 if you get any error while creating or accessing web applications, got to IIS and verify whether all the application pools used by SharePoint are set to v2.0 .net framework.
2) Powershell Compatibility: Windows 8 includes PowerShell v3.0 and SharePoint 2010 is currently not compatible with PowerShell v3.0. Therefore When you load up the SharePoint Management Shell you’ll receive an error:
